How I Made $680 in a single day on Xomba?

OK, I’ll admit – it happened only once but it’s true: one day back in June 2007 I’ve made $680 and change on Xomba.

I decided to share this true story with all Xomba readers and writers in the name of fairness and in return for the Xomba administrators’ genuine help and concern for their writers. They deserve at least that much.

These guys really try to help us writers make money and I think that kind of “customer service” is the real secret of this site’s rising success graphic.

Back to my story – until I started writing for Xomba this year the most I’ve ever made in AdSense income varied between just a few cents and perhaps a dollar or two. The day I made three dollars my heart started to race :-)) I never understood what the big deal was about AdSense, until…

One day back in June, I logged into my AdSense account early in the morning and… clearly there was something wrong with the number I was looking at: “Today: $40.85”

Excuuuse me??? was my first reaction.

It had to be a mistake.

I refreshed the screen. Logged out and logged in again. Nope. It did not disappear and actually within 3 or 4 minutes it climbed up to $42 !

Then I found Nick’s email in my mailbox congratulating me for making it! Obviously he was also monitoring the fireworks from his end. It was a great celebratory email. I knew something interesting was happening but I didn’t yet know exactly what.

The whole day the number kept climbing up – it was a total SHOCK to watch my AdSense income jump $10 to $20 every 15 to 30 minutes! It was an experience I was neither used to nor prepared for.

The whole day I was both giddy with excitement and also was trying to figure out what was happening.

Was that all a fluke? Would I receive an email from Google saying “sorry, our system made an error and pumped hundreds of dollars to your account that does not actually belong to you”???

Why all of a sudden was I making money by the bucket loads on AdSense given the fact that I had never made more than a few dollars before?

Again Nick came to the rescue. He explained that one of my Xomba articles was picked up by AOL’s search engine and on that day it was showing up as the Fourth search result from the top for searches performed by using the same keyword that I used in my title.

Wow! What a ride it was! By the day’s end, my earnings stood at $680 and some change. It was the most I ever earned in a single day!

And I learned a valuable lesson: if you can write stories indexed to important developments of the day or the most popular search keywords of the day, and if your Xomba article is grabbed by one the major search engines (like Google, MSN, or AOL), you can have a steep rocket ride to hundreds of dollars within 24 hours!

That never happened to me since. The reason? I kept thinking about it for a while…

There are just too many variables out there. For one thing, it’s hard to control what will rise to the top of search engine favorites. And the fact that I have a very demanding full-time job prevented me from concentrating with equal zeal on my “Xomba career.”

But even today, by just contributing a few articles a month, my Xomba AdSense income still easily beats my AdSense income from all my other web sites and blogs COMBINED.

I still make $3 to $5 dollars a day on days that I don’t do anything. It’s like an automatic ATM machine that pays me about $100 a month if I don’t do anything about it.

And when I do start posting just a few articles daily, my AdSense income immediately responds and jumps to the $7 to $10 a day range.

So I know for a fact that, whatever the magic they are brewing down there in sunny Florida, Xomba works like no other writing portal out there.

I hope my true story has helped you with assessing your chances of succeeding on Xomba.
