How I Use Priceline, It Might Surprise You

How I use Priceline.com might surprise you. When I first explain this to people, they look at me like I am crazy. However, usually the next time I see them they are doing the same.

Many people use Priceline to book a vacation. Some are ok with the fact that you can save a ton of money booking through them. I don't like having to book a vacation not knowing exactly what my accomodations will be.

I however, book through Priceline often. As the week goes on and we are trying to make plans for the weekend. I will go to Priceline and search for a hotel with an indoor pool, near my home. I will then choose the name your price option. I will bid, what I am comfortable paying for an evening of indoor swimming with my family. This is great in the dead of winter! We often order a pizza, swim for a few hours, get changed and go home. We rarely, if ever spend the night in the hotel.

I also book through Priceline if we are taking a day trip. I find a hotel where we are spending the day. Say it is an amusement park, we arrive when the park opens, as it gets hot and the kids get cranky, we go back to the hotel, freshen up, take a nap and then return for the evening. Just remember to get your hand stamped for re-entry. This is a great way to be able to enjoy a full day at the park with kids!

By being able to name your own price, often you are able to get a room for very little money, especially last minute. It is a great way to entertain your family or treat them to something different. If you think outside the box, you too can probally find a use for Priceline.com!

Great ideas!

Whenever I looked to book a vacation, I tended to stay away from Priceline specifically because the "where" was important to me, so I used Hotwire or Travelocity. However, looking at your ideas, it makes sense to bid lower for more local accommodations to get away for a day or so. There are a number of decent hotels in this county that would be worth visiting for a night. The ironic thing about hotel stays for my wife and me is that we used to look forward to staying in hotels because their bed was better than ours and we slept better. Now, after shelling out some money for a new Tempurpedic, we would rather stay home and sleep in our own bed. LOL ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING
