How To Increase Your Followers On Twitter.

How to increase the number of followers you have on Twitter.
If you are into Twitter as a social networking tool or to get more traffic to your website it helps to have a lot of followers. Here is how to get more followers on Twitter. Twitter recently changed it's rules to allow you to follow only 2000 people. This is to prevent spammers from taking over Twitter. You can expect roughly 17 percent of people you follow to follow you back. Of course you can add 2000 random people by searching for first names, etc, but a better way is to find people like you. Search for names that may include keywords of hobbies you have, such as "sailor" etc. Comment on other Twitter users posts and you may find you are getting more followers. One sure way to get more followers on Twitter is to add a "follow me on Twitter" tag on your blog or website and also add a Twitter window that shows your activity. You can get the source code for several styles of window from their site and place the HTML code in your web page where you want the activity window to appear.
Another sure way to get more followers on Twitter is to invite people you know. Search Twitter for people you know or send them an invite using the tool on the site.
The best way to get a bigger following on Twitter is to post informative, valuable tweets that people want to read. Popular tweets include celebrity gossip, political news, environmental news, etc. Keep your Twitter followers interested and they will pay attention to your tweets.
Using Twitter is a great way to get more traffic you your Xomba posts as well. When you post a new article on Xomba, post it to Twitter to publicize it. I will post this article to Twitter and it will appear in a window on one of my websites. You can see how it looks here, http://www.savegreenly.com
Another great way to get more twitter followers is a gadget designed by Gary McCafferey called Tweetergetter. Click on the link below and begin getting hundreds of new followers.

hard work is key for success

hardwork is the key of increasing followers.

What is Twitter and how it can help you.

Twitter is a social networking site where you exchange simple, short messages with friends or other users who have similar interests about what you are doing at the time. It can be anything from "getting ready for our wedding" to "just read a cool article on Xomba." Since the goal of many writers on Xomba is to be read, Twitter helps get the word out about your article. Plus, Twitter posts are searchable, therefore the key words of your "tweet" or Twitter post can be found by others who are searching. It's not that complicated at all, just a bit geeky. Twitter search

If they're limiting users to 2000 follows, they're going to have to make search more of an option to find info they want, and make it easier. I routinely see people following tens of thousands of people. Sites like wefollow also make it easy to search people or tweets by hash tag.

Sports updates, etc.

Twitter is definitely good for that. I have followed all of my favorite teams as well as some news outlets to get updates. Now I have to downsize my follow list to cut through all the junk and just get those updates that I really would like to see on a regular basis. PyraBang, The People's Media! I did not realize that. But, I wonder how many people do that. PyraBang, The People's Media! Promote Yourself AND Today's Relevant News and Media

Twitter followers

I don't know that you need tons of followers to get the word out, since all the tweets are searchable. The main method that I use to find stuff I'm interested in on Twitter is to use search, rather than to follow specific people.

Does it work?

I started with TweeterGetter in February and posted a blurb in mid February ( http://www.xomba.com/how_gain_thousands_followers_twitter_www_tweetergetter_co_cc ) Initially got many followers, but then leveled off at about 200. From my experience, you won't get the thousands of followers that it claims. It seems that people will start to follow you with tweetergetter, then stop (probably when cutting down their own follow list..especially now being limited to 2000) Twitter, especially if you can build up a large following, can get you a few reads on your posts, but unless you have tens of thousands of followers like Brittney Spears or have a very loyal following that want to see what your latest post is all about, you have to weigh it against your other methods of getting traffic and reads. I still use it, but not impressed with it much. It's not my top priority as there are better ways to get reads and traffic. Twitter and MySpace

Twitter isn't meant to replace MySpace; it's a messaging service. They are apples and oranges, comparing the two is like comparing MySpace to Xomba, or Xomba to Facebook, etc. The thing I like about Twitter is it's NOT trying to do 100 different things, it just does one thing in a very straightforward, easy to learn, easy to use manner. To me, a lot of things online have gotten too complex and cluttered (like all those hideously ugly MySpace pages that are jam-packed with clashing graphic elements, badly formatted photos, and music that blares at you when you land on the page). Twitter is a nice break from all that. And it can potentially be a very effective way to promote one's Xomba posts or other writing.

Twitter... what it is

It's like an instant messaging system... limited to 140 characters. You can "follow" people (receive messages from then whenever they send them), and people can sign up to receive yours. I have mine set to receive news and sports updates, notices of new blog posts and articles from people I like to read, etc. I plan to use it to send out updates of when I post new xombytes or blog posts. I'm finding it pretty useful.

Twitter is just dumb to me.

Twitter is just dumb to me. I can update my status/mood on myspace which can do 100x much more stuff than twitter
