This not only whitens your teeth, but does a great job at killing bacteria. You can pick up a bottle of hydrogen peroxide at your local drugstore for a dollar or two.

3. Use at home teeth whitening products.
These are great ways to keep your teeth white in between dentist visits, or to bypass the dentist entirely. These are cheaper than what the dentist can offer, but take more time. Not all of these products produce the same results for each person. The best way to find out which works best for you, is to try a few. Due to their being relatively inexpensive, you can try a variety of teeth whitening products and not be out too much money.

Try some things on your own. Mix it up, and experiment with different products to see which works best for you. And just a quick tip, make sure to stay away from the food offenders like tea, coffee, sugar, etc.
