How to Know if you have High Blood Pressure

Blood pressure is the measure of your blood vessel resistance against the blood circulation itself. There are two types of blood pressures. One is called Systolic and the other is Diastolic. The Systolic Blood Pressure is the highest amount of pressure in your arteries. The Diastolic Blood Pressure is the lowest amount of pressure in your arteries. To measure your blood pressure you would require a Sphygmomanometer. The Sphygmomanometer comes with a strap which goes on your arm. It has directions on how and where exactly to put it on. It usually goes on top of your cubital vein where many times nurses give you a shot or draw blood from.

If your blood pressure is at least 10 degrees below 120 Systolic and 80 Diastolic, you have a low blood pressure. A low blood pressure could be a sign of dehydration or if it is a long standing low blood pressure it could be due to some drug reaction.

If your blood pressure is within 5 degrees of 120 Systolic and 80 Diastolic, your blood pressure is normal. You should continue your healthy routine without any worries.

If your blood pressure is more than 10 degrees over 120 Systolic and 80 Diastolic, you have a high blood pressure. A high blood pressure could be due to many reasons. It could be due to a short anxiety attack or it could be due to a chronic or long lasting disease. It is best to check with your doctor.

Always get it checked

You should always get your blood pressure checked on a regular basis. Both of my parents had strokes.

Good article.
