How Lower Standards Places Us All At Risk
posted November 5, 2009 - 6:15pmOver many years, even decades, I have written and spoken out on the subject of how we are a civilization in decline. In especially, I refer to the calculated and deliberate onslaught on our education system and values by and from many directions and agents. Being one who never passes up the chance to say, “I told you so!”, here I am again to do just that.
In a press release, the Department of Defense has reported that they have a situation they have never had before which is that only 25% of the military aged population in today’s American citizenry, is capable and or eligible for military service. The reasons are many and I will list them as reported:
- They are too obese or physically unfit to pass entrance physicals.
- They have criminal records or other disqualifying legal records.
- They are too stupid to pass the entrance examinations.
- They are high school dropouts of otherwise lack the education requirements.
- They are addicted to drugs.
- They have a history or are dependant upon Ritalin, Prozac, or other prescription medications.
In my many published articles which now number in excess of three hundred, the
subject very often concerned at least one of the aforementioned topics which individually cause us great harm in many ways one of which is reduced quality and national prestige in competition with other nations. To pick out only one is the subject of how we have been dumbed down. Items three and four are proof positive that today’s youth suffers in great numbers of scholastic poverty. I need to point out that the days of an inductee only needing to know how to shoot a gun or dig a fox hole are ancient history as military service is necessarily a technical job in itself as is daily civilian life. Today’s soldier be it male or female needs to know as a basic necessity how to use a hand-held GPS unit and the capabilities of so many, as these two items on the list indicate, are too technical for them to grasp.
Furthermore, as a voter I must report that in my locality and many others across the nation, computerized voting machines are quickly replacing the old mechanical ones. I noted to my officials that they need to retain the old machines as an option because so many people, especially older ones from my parents’ generation, have trouble programming their microwaves. I have predicted that once this realization for them sinks in, they will opt for absentee ballots. On the face of it this might sound like a viable option for them except that absentee ballots are not counted unless the election is challenged. Otherwise they are simply discarded and never counted so their effort to circumvent the technical advancement will be for nothing.
Therefore, we can take heed from this as a warning but I caution the listener to also consider that with all the complaining about American jobs being outsourced to other nations being due to “greedy businessmen with concerns only on their bottom lines” may very well be rooted in a much more sinister cause which is that as our workforce becomes more and more dumbed down or otherwise incompetent, it would only be natural for industries to move their production elsewhere if they want to stay in business. And this doesn’t even get into the obvious question of how can we expect to defend ourselves if we can’t find enough of our own citizens to man the weapon systems. Will we then have to hire mercenaries? If that happens I have to remind you that mercenaries’ allegiances are with the ones who can pay them the most.

Only 25%
This is a sad state that we live in. 25% is truly pathetic.
