If you have a few hours to spare during the day for a week you stand to potentially make $150.00 per week babysitting 3 hours a day. If you are looking for ways to enhance your income during the recession then maybe babysitting is the answer. Here are 5 steps to making money babysitting.
STEP 1 - TAKE A COURSE
Caring for a child is much harder than people imagine, there are a lot of babysitting courses out there (just do a google search), if you want to be taken seriously then this is the only way to proceed. By taking a baysitting course you are showing your potential clients that you are responsible and know what to do when the uncertain happens, you are providing them with a peace of mind and confidence that is needed to release their loved ones into your care and responsibility.
STEP 2 - TARGET YOUR CLIENTS
Be selective in the children you babysit, at first start by writing letters and promting yourself through word of mouth in your local vicinity, dont just advertise in the local paper as there are a lot of unsavoury characters out there. When writing your letter attach a covering letter and a cv outlinging all your experience and qualifications you have, offer them a free consultation and have references ready to clinch the deal
STEP 3 - CONVERT YOUR SPACE
Ensure you keep your seperate life and your babysitting business seperate, done let one area encrouch into another area - this will lead to problems and questions about your professionalism will need to be answered. Instead keep a bespoke area in your house dedicated to the nursery and decorate it with toys and learning aids to make the children feel at home and well entertained so that they will give their perents a great review.
STEP 4 - GET REGULATED
Make sure you are regulated, go to your local authority and find out what you need to become a qualified babysitter. Ensure you have all the relevent insurance in place and make sure your space adheres to any requirements to care for children such as fire exits and work area dynamics. The best way to get peace of mind is to visit a babysitters area and see for yourself how the area is set up and try and emulate this as close as possible.
STEP 5 - GET QUALIFIED
Train for all the necessary qualifications, get your babysitting certificate, try to get additional qualifications such as first aid and health and safety certificates which you can use to impress your potential clients. Above all have a professional image and carry your self as a assured and level headed individual who can handle whatever is thrown at them with ease, all this will ensure that you always have clients at your disposal.
