How Many Celebrities Actually Came From Rags to Riches?
posted February 10, 2007 - 12:23pmAnna Nichole Smith self-proclaimed the small town of Mexia, Texas - which happens to be approximately 90 minutes South of Dallas - as her birthplace.
"Not so," says mom, Virgie Arthur.
"You're born in Houston, a middle class family. Why do you tell that story," Virgie was recalled saying
to Smith.
"Mom, nobody wants to read books or see people on tv concerning, you know, middle-class girl found a rich millionaire and married him. There's not a story in that...The story is I come from rags to riches, and so that's what I'm going to tell...Mom, if my name is out there in the news, good or bad, doesn't matter, good or bad, I make money, So I'm going to do whatever it takes."
Sounds familliar to me. So many celebrities do whatever it takes to make it in front of the spotlight, at all costs. So many don't care about the messages they send to the public, especially to our youth. Madonna comes to mind when I think of someone creating a persona, just to get to the top - no matter what image she created in her wake. She's not the only one, though. There are so many out there. It makes me wonder just how many of the celebrities out there were really from rags to riches, or were most of them all stories? It would be great to research and separate the true rags to riches from the stories!
