How to Reduce your Grocery Bill
posted April 24, 2009 - 10:25amI am a spaver. A spaver is a spender and a saver put together. However, I do not like to spend top dollar for anything. By anything, I do not purchase clothes, shoes, cars, not even my home at full price. Groceries can be very expensive. This is what I want to write about today. How to save money at the grocery store.
1. Weekly Sales - do not throw those advertisements out. Take a few minutes to look at them. The best sales are on the front and back page. These are your loss leaders. The grocery store does not expect to make a lot of money off these items, they want to get you in the store and hope that you will buy more. Most of us do. Especially if we shop hungry. Never shop for food hungry, you will buy more. The really good deals are buy one get one free, especially on meat.
2. Coupons - These usually come with your Sunday paper. Clip them while watching TV. You can use these with the loss leaders and come out the store with virtually free food.
3. Store Bonus Card - Sign up, it's free. You can save virtually everytime you shop. The store has deals just for customers who have a card. They also offer more coupons and free food during the holidays with a minimum purchase during certain dates.
4. Discount Shopping Stores - Walmart and Target offer the cheapest prices I have seen on food. They also take coupons.
If you don't need tons of food for a big family or to feed a house full of guests, the above are your best bets. Believe me, I save an average of $40.00 on groceries per week.
In pays to save.
