How The Titanic Sank - The Fateful Night of April 14, 1912
posted December 10, 2007 - 6:05amOn the night of April 14th, 1912, which proved to be fateful, the R.M.S Titanic, bound from Southampton to New York, on her Maiden Voyage, collided with an iceberg in the North Atlantic. The iceberg ripped open the first 5 compartments and the Titanic sank in the early hours of April 15th, taking the lives of 1,523 men, women and children. Just 705 survived that night.
"We have struck iceberg ... sinking fast ... come to our assistance." .these were the SOS cries rendering the air that night.

Here are some of the blames laid upon which sank the mighty Titanic
It now emanates that the construction of the ship was a major factor that led to its sinking. Its NBCD aspects were compromised for more roomy and spacious design. In effect it means that the water tight integrity was lost. This meant that the area of damage could not be isolated, thereby causing the water to overflow from one section of the ship to another. A very costly lesson learnt. Hopefully there will not be such disasters in future.
