How to Choose a Camp

When I was growing up I went to a night camp. They slept through the day and stayed up all night. I have always been a night person, so I thought this was the best camp ever.

We got to go swimming (before it was dark, of course) and we got to look at the stars. We got to go hiking at night, they had ultra violet flashlights so we could see more of the hidden things (I couldn't see anything out of the ordinary myself). We would get our breakfast when the other camps we getting our from lunch. A few times we watched the sunrise. I will never forget the camp.

The camp was Wesley Woods in Iowa. They have a number of camps geared towards different things, in fact they have probably in the neighborhood of fifty specialty camps to chose from.

A general camp might be a good idea, but I think that many kids are apprehensive to go to camp at first. If you pick a camp that incorporates their taste, they will be more willing to go.

The Camps vary from sports (which my brother went to) to video game camp. I think the video game camp is a bad idea, the whole point of camp is to get the kids outside and to have some activities. There was also a camp where at the end they go to an amusement park. what a fun way to end a week at camp with your new friends.

There is also a camp about horses. My daughter went to that and I know it was a very special time for her. She got to have her own horse to take care of for a week. If there is any special interests your child has, there is probably a camp for it.

A general camp is to give your child a chance to meet a lot of different types of kids. If they go to a specialty camp they might meet people who are similar to them. It will broaden their horizons to do a lot of different types of activities.
