How To Cook Bacon Bacon Bacon - A "Learn To Cook" Free Lesson

Love bacon, but hate to cook it? Then this is for you.

Now that we know "How To Use An Oven" http://www.xomba.com/how_to_use_an_oven_a_free_learn_to_cook_lesson

we can cook our bacon in the oven with no mess, no popping grease, and less fat in the finished product.

Equipment needed:

1. a quarter sheet pan.. this is a cookie sheet with sides.

2. a rack that fits into the pan.... if you don't have a rack, take a sheet of foil and crumple it up and then partially straighten it out, but don't smooth it out. Leave lots of little hills and valleys so that as the bacon cooks and renders out the fat, the fat will run into the valleys.

3. foil to line the pan

Grocery list

1. bacon of your choice. I like a smoked thick cut bacon

Cooking Method

Line the sheet pan with foil to make clean up easier.

Place the rack in the pan, or use the crumpled foil

Place the separated strips of bacon on the rack with a little space between the rashers. Each strip of bacon is called a rasher.

Place the pan on the middle shelf in a cold oven.

Set the oven temperature to bake at 350 degrees.

Bake for 8-14 minutes, depending on the thickness of the bacon. Check it frequently. Once the fat renders out and the bacon gets crisp, it will burn very quickly.

Serve it as is in whole rashers or crumble it to use as a topping. Store unused bacon in the refrigerator and heat in the microwave (about 30 sec) before serving.

NOTE: This is a free online cooking lesson from the "Learn To Cook" series.
