How To Donate A Junk Car To Charity In Houston Texas

If you live in the Houston Texas metropolitan area you have many choices when it comes to donation a junk car that is on your property. All you need is the title or the permission of the owner of that car. All they have to do is sign the back of the title. If the title has been lost you will have to order a clear title. If the car is being sold for scrap only you may be able to donate it even if you don't have a clear title under certain circumstances. You can contact The Houston chapter of Habitat For Humanity as well as The Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, the Houston Chapter of The Sierra Club among others for direct car donation. With many charities in Houston you can donate your old junk car directly. You also have the option of going through a third party donation company that will take your car, pay you money and give you a receipt for the car with a certain amount of that going to the charity that you choose. These private companies offer a wide range of charities that you can choose from including many that do not take direct junk car donations.
There are new laws governing how much of a deduction you can take. Now it is based on the actual value of the car but this can still be subjective.
It makes good sense to donate a junk car to charity. You are helping clean up your community, helping to recycle steel and aluminum and giving yourself a nice tax break as well. Donating junk cars is another way to help get rid of mosquitoes and rats since old cars are a breeding place for these.
