Have you ever wanted a hassle-free way to play youtube video in your PSP? Some of you may have been using PSPtube software (installed under custom firmware) to play youtube video through Wi-Fi connection. What if you wanted to own a copy of youtube video and play it anytime you want on PSP? Some of you may not even have the choice to install PSPtube under official firmware; while some would just like an easier way to convert video to PSP format without any software like PSP Video 9.

Ever since Sony came out with firmware version 3.30 for the PSP, there's less restriction on the type of MP4 video that PSP can support. It's easier to play video on PSP compared to previous firmware version. There's no renaming convention to follow. You just need to copy the MP4 video into [VIDEO] folder right under the root of Memory Stick.

Youtube video is actually in FLV format, but there's no standalone FLV player yet for the PSP. A workaround is to convert the FLV video to MP4 format which PSP support. This means you would have to download the FLV file from youtube and convert it to MP4 format using free software like PSP Video 9.

Now there's an easier way to play youtube video in PSP without installing any software. The free tool that I'm recommending is zamzar.com. It's a free online file conversion website, that is able to save and convert youtube videos. So you can actually convert youtube videos anywhere as long as there's Internet connection.

All you need to do is copy the URL of the youtube video that you want and paste it to "Add URL" box. Then, select MP4 format, insert your email address and click convert. Now, wait for the email to reach your inbox. It usually takes only a few minutes for the video to be converted if the server is not busy. Click on the link of the email and download the PSP compatible video. Finally, copy the video to the [VIDEO] folder of the Memory Stick and you are ready to play it on PSP.
