How to Handle a Job Interview
How to Handle a Job Interview
There’s nothing more awkward than a job interview. Besides dressing up and presenting yourself as a professional business person, there is not too much more you can do to prepare for an interview. There are some practical things that you should do that you may overlook.
Always bring 3 copies of your resume with you to the interview. The Human Resource department may ask you for a copy as well ask your interviewer. And you will want a copy for yourself in case you are asked any questions about your resume.
Always bring a copy of the job posting you are interviewing for and highlight anything that stands out that you may want to ask questions about later on.
Research the company you are interviewing for. It never hurts to know about the company’s business and how they operate. Showing that you took the time to find out about the company’s business shows that you’re are interested in working for them.
Never try to outwit the interviewer or try to guess what they are going to say next and cut them off. Always let the interviewer speak first unless they are asking you a question. You will have your own time to speak and ask questions.
Ask questions on anything concerning the job position or responsibilities. Now it’s your time to speak so get all your concerns out there. Conduct yourself as if this was just a business meeting. When it comes time to talk about salary, always leave yourself open to negotiate salary. This will increase your chances of being called back for a second interview.
That’s about it. Following these simple steps will make your interview go smoothly and will be prepare you as best as possible. Good luck!
You make some good points here. Looks as if you have conducted a few interviews yourself. It can be difficult to get to that stage, and once you do it becomes that much more important to get it right...learning about the company helps to soothe the nerves a bit and may prove to the interviewer just how much of an asset you will be to the company.
