How to Know if Someone Comments on Your Xomba Post

How to Know if Someone Comments on Your Xomba Post

So you're making a New Years Resolution to blog regularly in 2008, maybe even taking on the suggestion of a blogging goal - say 3 posts a day? Congratulations! Having a workable plan with real tangible posting goals will absolutely help your Xomba business. But how will you manage the comments on all of those posts?

If you blog consistently, and if you blog with quality content, you'll start to receive regular comments on your posts. Sometimes, a comment will appear on a post from weeks and weeks ago, but it is still courteous and expected that you respond to that comment. You could go back and read each one of your posts on a daily basis to check for comments, but that would be impossible as your post count increases.

Instead, take advantage of the "track" function that Xomba has built in to their interface. Click on "My Profile" in the left sidebar, then click on "track". There, you will see every post that you have written or commented on, and there you will also be advised if there are any new comments. Much easier, right? And it will keep you in a favorable light with all of your readers.

Tracking comments

Have you tried experimenting with the commenting options? They give you the option of viewing comments in a "flat" or threaded format (which I think would solve the problem you're referring to), and to view them expanded or collapsed. You can also choose whether to have the comments listing in order of oldest first or newest first. As far as knowing when someone makes a comment on one of your posts, you don't have to check the "track" option, or even be on Xomba--you can "subscribe" to your posts and have it set up so that you will be notified by email if someone comments on one of them/

Good ideas make good fuel for a debate

I have been involved in many a spirited debate, mostly surrounding Bush's adventures in Iraq, and the firestorm of comments below the articles could have made several Xombytes in their own right. Actually, one such Xombyte--which I didn't write, but contributed to copiously--made it to the top 5 of debates on the legality of the Iraq War when searched in Google. Comments Keep a Post Alive

Comments can keep a post alive until the search engines have a chance to index it. Keeping the post alive mat mean more clicks if the reader is interested in or agrees with your topic.

Comments

Comments are also reflected in your "workspace". It also notes the ones that are new and that you have not yet given a reply. I love getting comments. It is somewhat discouraging to spend time on a piece and watch it pass into oblivion without a comment... Angel

Giving/Receiving Feedback is Important

I enjoy writing and I enjoy being a part of a community, so I guess Xomba is a perfect combination of the two. I believe that each of us has something to learn from others and their viewpoints and giving/receiving feedback on our writing is a good way to learn. Comments

I've noticed that you comment VERY frequently - more often than most members. I always appreciate seeing your comments.

Unfortunately, comments are not always "treed"

Unfortunately, comments are not "treed" so we always know what comment is in response to another comment and what comment is in response to the OP. Hopefully, the language of the comment will make its intended target known, but there's always the option to respond to specific users by saying "@ so-and-so" before leaving the comment. I like using the "track" function in my profile, especially when I get an e-mail telling me there's a new comment and I don't check in immediately. But, definitely, comments are always appreciated and are vital to making Xomba a writing community. Click here if you have something to say and want to get paid to say it!
