How to Make a Quick Face Mask for Dry Skin
posted March 29, 2008 - 6:15amEveryone wants soft, smooth skin on their face and body but the environment can make it a challenge, particularly if you live in area where you're exposed to cold, dry air. Another factor that can contribute to dry, parched skin is repeated exposure to hot water from showers and baths which tends to strip away the natural oily barrier that protects skin from the elements. Dry skin can be helped by the practice of good skin care techniques and the use of a rich moisturizer containing a sun block. Another effective way to relieve extremely dry facial skin is through the use of a moisturizing face mask. A moisturizing face mask can give facial skin the extra moisture boost it needs to look and feel softer and smoother. There's no need to go to a high priced spa or salon to get a quick face mask when it's so easy to do at home. Here's how:
Make a Hot Mask
One of the easiest and most effective ways to moisturize super dry skin is to do a hot mask at home. To do this, simply heat a rich moisturizer or night cream in the microwave for a few seconds until it's warm, but still touchable. Use your fingers to apply the heated moisturizer generously to your face. Leave the warm moisturizer on for fifteen minutes before removing with a slightly damp washcloth. Your skin should look and feel better immediately. If you have extremely dry facial skin, repeat this process twice a week for even better results.
Make an All Natural Moisturizing Mask
When you're limited for time, you need simple, all natural ingredients to create a fast moisturizing mask. Some of the best face masks can be made from ingredients you already have in your kitchen. If you have eggs, honey, and almond oil you can whip up a quick moisturizing mask for extra dry skin. Place an egg yolk into a glass bowl and add two teaspoons of olive oil and one teaspoon of honey. Mix the ingredients thoroughly. Apply the mixture to your face using your fingers and allow it to remain in contact with your skin for twenty minutes. Rinse with warm water and apply your regular moisturizer. You can substitute avocado oil for olive oil if you wish. Avocado oil has excellent moisturizing properties. You can also add a few drops of vitamin E for its moisturizing and antioxidant effects.
The care of extremely dry skin doesn't have to be complicated or expensive. These simple facial masks can be quite effective when used on a regular basis. Why not give them a try?
