How to Make an Easy Christmas Present Tag

Stop spending money on stick-on name tags to identify Christmas packages. A convenient festive Christmas tree-shaped name tag can be created easily from wrapping paper scraps. Use those heart-shaped Valentine making skills from third grade, but cut out a tree instead.
Fold, clip, snip and next time you wrap a gift, make tag too.

1. Fold left over gift wrap in rectangle shape.

2. From the right side or folded over edge (not the open side) make a small cut across for the trunk.

3. Make a small cut up for the other side of the trunk.

4. Make a larger cut towards the open end of fold for the base of the tree.

5. From the outer corner of that cut, cut at an angle up and back toward the closed side of the fold. This cut makes the tree shape, from the base to the tree-top point.

6. Unfold the tree or keep folded, your choice, and tape to the present.

7. Write the recipient’s name on the white side of the gift wrap.

Christmas tree tags are easy to make and a great method of recycling all those little scraps of paper left over from present wrapping.

Good Idea! My family does this also...

This is a very good idea to use the inevitable scraps that are produced when wrapping many presents. Whatever we don't use for tags, we use for simple craft projects with our toddler son, since he is just realizing how much fun it is to glue stuff together.
