How To Make Homemade Liquid Hand Soap
How To Make Homemade Liquid Hand Soap
Liquid soaps are a fast and steady growing trend today. However, these soaps are actually detergents and they are not the best substances to put onto your hands. Ad agencies act like liquid soaps are a brand new idea yet the idea is actually as old as soap.
Did you know that American Indians use to make their soaps from agitated yucca and other sud-producing plants? Did you know that Ancient Hawaiians used the flowers of a wild ginger plant for the same purpose?
There are many saponin or soap producing plants that grow throughout the world and they were often used to make soap by various peoples because it was the only thing available to them. You can make your own liquid hand soaps very easily at home in your own kitchen. The following is a recipe on how to make a base liquid hand soap.
Base Liquid Hand Soap
Ingredients:
Castile Soap
3 cups Hot Water
Grate the Castile soap into small flakes and fill a measuring cup up to 1 cup. Be sure to pack the soap into the cup and use exactly 1 cup. Bring water almost to a boil and remove from heat. Mix the 1 cup of Castile soap flakes into the hot water and blend well with a wooden spoon or metal whish until you have a nice liquid.
Let it stand until cool and then add in your essential oils. For this amount of soap you need to add 50 to 60 drops of essential oils or less for less of a fragrance.
