How to Make Solid Perfume

If you've experienced a hard day on the job and are feeling less fresh than when you left the house, a quick dab of perfume can perk you up and give you that clean, refreshed feeling. But who wants to carry a heavy perfume bottle in their purse? A good alternative is to carry solid perfume that fits into a tin or other small container which can be dropped easily into even the smallest clutch purse. Instead of spending your hard earned money on store bought solid perfume, why not make your own? It's quick and easy and you can customize the scent. Here's how to make solid perfume right in your own kitchen:

Ingredients:

* One tablespoon beeswax
* One tablespoon jojobo oil
* Essential oils of your choice
* Thin wooden stick to stir
* Glass bowl
* Saucepan
* Small tins or glass containers

Make solid perfume: Gather your supplies

You'll need small containers to hold your perfume that will fit easily into your purse. Glass, plastic, or tin containers are all acceptable. You should be able to find these at most craft stores. You'll also need beeswax, jojobo oil, and the essential oils of your choice. Most of these can be found at health food stores and natural food markets. You'll need access to a sauce pan and a glass bowl for mixing. Before choosing your scent, spend some time at your local health food store experimenting. Most stores have testers so you can determine which scent is most pleasing to you. You may want to buy several essential oils so you can make different fragrances.

Make solid perfume: Prepare your wax

Start by measuring out a tablespoon of beeswax and place it into your glass bowl. Add one tablespoon of jojobo oil into the bowl. Place the sauce pan on the stove and add around an inch and a half of water. Carefully place the glass bowl with your beeswax and jojobo oil into the pan and heat the water to its boiling point. The beeswax should start to melt. Stir occasionally during the melting process.

Make solid perfume: Add the essential oils

Now it's time to add the most important part, your fragrance. Add ten drops of your chosen essential oil to the mixture and use a thin wooden stick to stir. You'll notice the beeswax will start to solidify around the stirrer so make sure it's thin so you won't waste your mixture. Continue to stir until thoroughly mixed.

Make solid perfume: Pour your perfume

Pour the freshly scented mixture into your small containers and allow it to cool under solid to the touch. When it's firm, you're ready to use your solid perfume by rubbing your finger over the surface and applying it to your wrists or neck.

Once you know how to make solid perfume, the fragrances you can make by varying the essential oils is almost endless. Try combining several different essential oils to create your own unique scent. You can even add glitter to the perfume to give it added sparkle. This technique is so fun and easy you'll find yourself coming up with your own unique scents that are distinctively yours. Solid perfumes also make wonderful gifts for almost any occasion.
