How To: Naturally avoid a yeast infection

It is something that happens to almost every woman in her lifetime, even to men! Here are a few quick suggestions that can help you avoid contracting a yeast infection and the discomfort that comes with it!

1) Yeast is formed when the flora in a woman's vagina is disrupted or somehow thrown off. Most commonly this is caused by two things: a change in humidity and a change in hormones. Many women contract yeast infections with more frequency around their periods. There is nothing that can be done about this, other than being especially wary at this time and taking precautionary measures. However, we can be conscious of the amount of moisture in that area. Try to keep the area around the vagina dry, wear loose, cotton panties in the summer and change out of wet swim suits immediately.

2) Preempt your attack by drinking cranberry juice or taking a cranberry supplement, sometimes this can help.

3) If you do feel the beginnings of a yeast infection (many women know the sensation after the first time) you can treat it with varying results immediately with yogurt. The bacteria in the yogurt reset the flora in the vagina.

If your infection persists please go an visit a health care professional immediately
