How to start a travel agency!
posted June 27, 2008 - 11:37amFirst thing is to decide on what kind of travel you want to sell.
I particularly want to sell All inclusive Resort packages as well as Cruises and the largest part of what i would like to offer is Resort Condo Rentals. These are 7 night/ 8 day week stays in
High Tourism Destination.
Step2
See ya at the club; )
Once i have registered i will tell you how to do this also. Ok, well as of 3/12/08 i signed up for about a dozen information packets from different search engines, try this yourself on the add on the side of my site, its free to look, and guess what they all want some kind of fee just to find out how to start their program. When i find a good one i will let you know.
well, i think I've found a agency that's worth their salt. Its called courtesy Travel out of Phoenix. They are a Saber system user, and pay 70 to 80% of commissions. I have been looking around and this is very good for a new person entering the business. I have started the process of applying and will keep you informed.
Well, here we go. This outfit has seen fit to host my operation, This is a great way to go.
Hosting, you see, is this. I will operate my own business and "sell"
travel as I see fit. Then I get my travel from this outfit and they handle all the ordering, shipping, credit card merchant accounts. Its a pretty good situation. I figure I will use this agency to fulfill my sales obligations and I will continue to sell Timeshare on the side.
And the nicest thing about this company seems to be that there, so far, is no sign up fee what so ever. Another great feature of these guys is, once your up and running, meaning generating revenue they give you a sponsoring ID card that WILL get you discounts on personal travel.
Step3So i have started this process ,and a red flag popped up.Not a biggie, but a stop measure thats for sure. You see in order to sell this companies travel you need to pay an application fee of $195 for 2 different items. One is Errors and ommissions insurance, and secondly is something called res29,which i dont understand.and you have to pay $25 a month to use there computer system. To me this is not acceptable,so i am continuing a search for a travel hosting company.I really dont want to pay anything ,due to the fact that these hosting companies get 30 to 60 % of your commissions on each sale.
Ill let you know when i find what we are looking for.
Just do it.
