How to Start Your Day Off Right
posted March 29, 2008 - 12:12amHow many times have you heard the alarm go off in the morning, only to angrily slam the snooze button in a futile attempt to drag out your sleep time? How many times have you bemoaned the fact that you wake up tired every morning? How many times have you cursed the fact that you are always running late in the morning and if you "coulda, woulda, shoulda" gotten up earlier, you wouldn't have to rush around?
Well, my friends, it's called a self-fulfilling prophecy. That's right. YOU are responsible for all of these bad things happening to you. Why? Because you told the Universe that is what you wanted to happen to you! The only reply you will ever get from the Universe when you send out those negative thoughts and emotions is "Your Wish Is My Command!"
"Okay, Jim," you tell me, "I'm ready to change, but I don't know how. Can you help me?" I would be glad to help you. I have been on both sides of this situation and, believe me, the way I now do it works out far better.
What I want you to do first each evening is write in your journal. I don't care if you use a composition or spiral notebook, three ring binder and notebook paper, some fancy journaling book, or even some loose blank paper you swiped from your computer printer. What I want you to do is write down everything that you did that day--good and bad. It doesn't have to be clear, concise, or even legible; you are not necessarily writing it to be re-read later.
Okay, now that you've "downloaded" your day onto the written page, I want you to start a new page of things you need and want to accomplish for the next day. Things like writing your articles for Xomba, appointments, school assignments, going shopping and other errands, etc. Now, close your eyes and visualize these things being accomplished. Feel the sense of satisfaction and accomplishment when you look back on the day tomorrow night.
Great, now I want you to stand in front of your bathroom mirror, make eye contact with your reflection, use your right hand to tap your throat to activate your throat chakra and "speak your truth", and repeat this affirmation seven times:
"I sleep deeply and fitfully for I am at peace with my world. I am grateful for all I accomplished today and for what I have already accomplished tomorrow. I will get up in the morning wide awake, full of energy, and dedicated to accomplishing my goals. I am open to new opportunities to learn and give service to others."
While you are saying your affirmation, FEEL the gratitude of what you've accomplished and will accomplish, SEE yourself sleeping fitfully, and BELIEVE that you will wake up in the morning ready to go.
Now, you will go to sleep and wake up refreshed, eager to meet your next day head-on and full of energy!
They say that it takes 21 days to make or break a habit, so I will challenge you to do all of these steps each and every night for the next three weeks. Feel free to leave me a comment at the end of that time with the changes you've made--I am interested to see how it worked for you!
