Hurricane Fay Closes Key West Airport, Cruise Lines In South Florida, More May Follow
posted August 18, 2008 - 10:58amFlorida Keys vacationers passengers on cruise lines departing from south Florida have already had to end their vacations early and evacuate due to the approach of Hurricane Fay. These same Florida vacationers may have difficulty getting back home if more airports close, which is a possibility as Hurricane Fay gets
closer to Florida's coastline.
Key West airport closed at 10am Monday morning, airports all the way up the Florida coastline to Ft. Lauderdale are keeping a close eye on Hurricane Fay's progression, with the possibility of more airports closing.
South Florida's port managers are making sure all cruise lines and cargo ships are safely in port or safely out at sea prior to the projected landfall of Hurricane Fay.
