I’m Gonna is now I Did
posted April 20, 2009 - 12:29pmI have been commenting on posts that, “Monday, I’m going to start exercising” Well, here it is Monday and I have successfully changed “I’m gonna” to “I did”.
It was a rocky start, as I did not get out of bed at the time I had originally planned. Then, as I sat drinking my wake-up juice of the morning, I started telling myself, “Oh, just do the 15 minutes of Yoga. Don’t worry about the treadmill or other stuff you planned. Start off slow. Get into the Yoga habit and then move on and add the treadmill next week.” I have to admit, I almost had myself convinced. Buuuut, then I heard another voice. “Don’t be so quick to change plans, don’t give up, and don’t be lazy! You made these plans, now stick to them. There is no reason to change them.” So, I did my 15 minutes of Yoga, 30 minutes on the treadmill, ok, a bit slow on the speed, but I did it, and another 15 minutes doing various lifting exercises with my new 5lb weights. I must say, I feel good and happy that I did not alter my plan.
Just that short Yoga workout, which is really just slow, concentrated stretches of the back, hips and legs, has eased my sciatic nerve pain down by left leg. My back feels a bit tight in the shoulder blade area, but I’m concentrating on my posture, which helps. My arms, well they are a bit on the rubbery side as it has been a long time since I have done much with those muscles. Not bad for day one and I only have the rest of my life to go!
In closing this little pat on my back for following through, I want to thank Celanith and Rawnak for sharing their fitness doings and in a sense, encouraging me to challenge myself to get it together and do it too.
