This is awesome. The planets and stars have aligned and my kids and husband have been gone all day and won't get back until late tonight.

I've had the house to myself for over six hours. SIX HOURS! After the "Be careful!"s and "Have Fun!"s were over and I saw the car leave, I seriously became giddy with the possibilities of what I can do with my time.

I wanted to start out with my rendition of the Tom Cruise dance in Risky Business but all of my husband's work shirts were in the laundry so I had nothing cool to wear. Wait...should I do the laundry? No, Mia, fight the power, resist all temptation to clean.

Since I couldn't do the obligatory dance, I decided to youtube old 80s songs and sing (loudly and off-tune) some Cyndy Lauper, some Bon Jovi, some Flock of Seagulls. These are the songs my kids roll their eyes at because none of it's by "Kanye". It's their loss because Time After Time is a freakin' classic! Wait...is that a layer of dust on the computer monitor...should I dust? NO!!!

OK, songs have been sung and I still have plenty of time to take a long bath (without interruption), read (without interruption), work on my stories (without interruption) or maybe I'll just put in a DVD. Wait...the DVDs are all scattered everywhere...should I arrange them in the entertainment center? NO!!!

What's wrong with me? I have carte blanche and all of my thoughts are turning to laundry, dusting, arranging and oh my goodness, I was going to take a long bath in that? The tub totally needs a cleaning before I'm getting in.

Sigh. Will there ever be a time to just hang loose, relax and indulge? Will it always be about my to-do list? Maybe I should have gone with them?

Naaah. There's still some free spirit Mia somewhere inside me. Dirty shirt or not, I'm gonna do that old time of rock and roll anyway...
