Cab drivers and orange juice
posted November 7, 2006 - 1:29pmI woke up in my car this morning, still in the office parking garage. A receipt sat crumpled in the passenger seat, showing that I withdrew $200 from a bank in Dupont. I only have $80 in my pocket. Okay, let me stop and preface.
It hasn't been many years since I left college. The last time I blacked out from drinking, I was 19 years old. Shit happens, I guess. But last night, as I concluded a late night at the office, I decided to have a drink with a couple of guys in my team (let's call them 'Mike' and 'Justin'). This is how the night went, if I remember correctly.
10:00pm - Mike, Justin and I leave for a sports bar in Arlington.
10:30pm - First round of Jack Daniel shots are ordered, along with three pints of beer and some cheese fries.
11:27pm - A friend of mine calls me to see if we want to hang out at a bar in Dupont where she bartends.
11:28pm - M, J and I discuss the ups and downs. There were more ups.
11:30pm - We ask for our tab and a third round of Jack Daniel. Justin tries to flag down a cab outside.
12:00am - We arrive at the bar. Justin doesn't feel so good, so he decides to take the cab back to the office. Mike and I venture inside.
12:15-ish am - We talk to my friend the bartender. Look around for people to chat with, and begin ordering shots like David Hasselhoff at the Wimbledon. Mike is screaming for no reason at all.
1:30 am - 9:00am Tuesday - The only people who knows what happened during this time period are god, the cab driver, and the camera at the ATM machine where I withdrew $200.
11:00am - VOTE!!!
12:30pm - Get into work, where both Mike and Justin have called in sick. Write this blog on Xomba, and wonder why I never thought about mixing green tea and orange juice before.
I guess "blacked out" would be too strong of a word. I just chose not to remember.
