I Stumbled Upon The Daily Kos While Searching For "Daily Coast"...And Boy Am I Glad
posted September 2, 2008 - 1:40amI still haven't found out what Daily Coast is, but I can tell you Daily Kos http://www.dailykos.com is a scathing left wing blog with a sense of humor. Here are just some of the things I saw in yesterdays issue:
* Amy Goodman (host of Democracy Now TV) was arrested in Minnesota as she covered the protesters at the Republican National Convention. She left the convention floor to check on 2 producers she heard had been arrested. The Secret Service ripped her press credentials off her and police manhandled her (as they had also injured her producers) as they wrestled her to the ground.
* McCain is all concerned about Louisiana & Hurricane Gustav
now that all the cameras are on the RNC, but he campaigned in the midst of California wildfires and Midwest floods without batting an eyelash.
* A satirical piece on McCain's would-be cabinet, no doubt inspired by his surprise choice of picking someone who was a mayor of a remote town with a population of 9000, four years ago.
* A must see video taken from a Republican Party -- party entitled, "Hookers and Blow" (Blow meaning coke...coke meaning not the soda.)
* A link to a video of Pat Buchanan and Joe Scarborough
pooh poohing the notion of a Palin VP nomination, scoffing at her qualifications and saying how such a move would actually be condescending to women. (Now they are singing her praises and pretending like they never made those comments.)
* A report on gestapo-like police raids on dissenter groups at the RNC, even before the fact and in their own homes, with false allegations. And on police opening fire with rubber bullets and tear gas on concert goers, including women and children. The same report told how the Denver pepper spray and arrests videos from the DNC in Denver last week didn't show the fact that a lot of the protesters did move when ordered by the police and were trying to leave the vicinity when more police from the other direction closed in on them and sprayed them with pepper spray and arrested them.
* Lots of poll results showing that Palin has not paid off so far at all, including with women saying they are less likely to vote for McCain now than ever.
* The fact that Palin has hired an attorney because the Alaskan State Legislature is investigating her for potentially firing Walt Monegan the Public Safety Commissioner simply for refusing to fire her State Trooper ex-brother in law, who Palin might have wanted to punish for divorcing her sister. Wow!
* Palin was a member of
the Alaskan Independent Party, whose main platform plank is
to get a vote for the citizens of Alaska to decide whether to succeed from the United States. And that this isn't from her ancient past: She participated in the AIP 2004 Convention and recorded a video shout out for the 2008 AIP Convention.
* A couple pieces questioning the vetting ability of the McCain campaign. (One of the pieces wonders if the McCain people bothered to vet Palin at all.)
I'm just kind of scratching the surface. There's a ton of stuff here. And what I think I liked the best is it's not all anti-McCain-Repooplican and pro Obama-Democrap. There was some criticism for the Dems as well.
I'm definitely bookmarking this find.
