I Want My Daddy

She rose to answer the phone/her fifty-two year old father had been thrown out of a five story window/both arms broken/an addict can never be friends with his dealer/those words ran through her mind as she fell to the floor with eyes full of water/weeping not for sympathy but for his salvation/hating every man that said hello to her /remembering the abandonment/the shame/the embarrassment of having his last name/the little girl in her wiped her mascara stained cheeks/she wept for her father’s life/Satan’s joy/another Black man/remembering the last time she hugged him/her hands against bones/all five six of her towering him/ a small man with big dreams and crack vile visions/her life lived in the basement of resentment/ hoping her God would forgive him although she herself couldn’t/revelation that she’s a new creature in God/adopted into a family of saints/chains began to break from around her ankles and arms as she lifted herself from the floor/the word of the Lord went forth/she was remade/renewed/reclaimed/she is a child of God/with authority in her voice and faith in her spirit/she prayed/she stood/she fasted/she was delivered/her fifty two year old father heard her voice on the radio/preaching the good news/healed/he set out to visit/asking her forgiveness/she turned to him/and said it is done/he/addicted no longer/pipes in the trash/no more coke stashed/said he was free/saved from the world/and it’s attack on me/rejoicing/she walked with her father in newness and in love/

Fathers

Thank you, my sister for your kind words. It is good for us to share our testimonies with each other. I am glad to know that your Dad was able to pray and ask God for his forgiveness before he passed. God is good, and His mercy endures forever! We know that it is always difficult to deal with our parents being absent from our lives, but I am thankful that while my father was away, my heavenly Father stood in the gap, and sent other men to father to me. I am now able to pray for my Dad and for his faith to be strengthened so that he can be saved. Again, the Lord is good, and He is faithful. My dad has actually not turned his life around as YET, but I am believing God that He will have an encounter with Jesus Christ very soon and surrender all. Continue to pray for us (my dad and me), as I will for you. God Bless and Thank You again! Peace Zion's Daughter

This made me cry

Your article touched my heart, I too am a Christan and know the pain of a dad who was not Godly for a long time. He was a sinner and different ways than the one in your story. But sin is sin no matter what kind. He too however did turn his life around and we prayed long for it. My daddy is with the Lord now these past 9 years. One of the passages in the bible he was holding when he passed away had to do with asking God's forgivness. Recently my Church group started a prayer group to Pray prodigals home and are standing in the gap for them until God brings everyone of them home. We will not cease to pray until they are back 100%. Right now we have 57 we are praying for and weekly we shall add to the list. A good book to read on the subject is "Praying your Prodigals Home, by Quin Shearer and Ruthanne Garlock. Jen
