I Would Like to be Homer Jay Simpson

If I could choose to be any fictional character I would definately be Homer Jay Simpson.

Homer Simpson is the embodiment of the American working class. He "works" as a Safety Inspector in sector 7-G of the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant. As we know, "works" is a debatable word choice, as he can usually be found sitting in front of his controls doing nothing but lethargically eating donuts or taking the occasional cat-nap. I must say, I am green with envy of a man who can make a decent living doing a job such as that.

When away from the workplace, Homer also has a family that loves him dearly. He has a beautiful wife Marge, 3 intelligent and witty children, and two pets. Sure, at times Homer can be crude, incompetent, lazy, clumsy, and thoughtless. Sure, he's a borderline alcoholic with explosive anger issues. And yes, he's a little overweight. But still, I appreciate the way in which Dan Castellaneta (Homer's voice) describes him, "He's like a dog trapped in a man's body. He's incredibly loyal—not entirely clean—but you gotta love him." Who could possibly dislike this guy, despite his flaws.

Additionally, Homer has tried out just about everything. For example, in just the first 400 episodes he had already had over 188 jobs. I would love to be a man like that, able to try all sorts of new things and have an uncountable amount of experiences.

Even on top of all this, Homer's trade mark catch phrase "D'oh!" is in Oxford's English Dictionary. How cool would it be to be able to go around bragging that a word you created is in the dictionary?

So to conclude, in some ways, Homer Jay Simpson is just like me, a "hardworking" American middle class man. And in other ways, he leaves me something to aspire to, having constantly new experiences and being famous all over the world.
