Ibuprofen+Alcohol=Technicolour Dreaming

Having damaged a ligament in my knee while sailing earlier in the year, I occasionally need to take some ibuprofen.

I have noticed that if I have had even a tiny amount of alcohol I have the most amazing dreams and I'm wondering if this is just me or whether it is a known and recognised effect.

I have checked the notes in the medicine carton and it gives no warning or suggestion that you should not take it with alcohol.

Last night, I had had two small glasses of wine and took one 400mg ibuprofen capsule at bed time.

I do dream at other times, but on those occasions it is never quite so vivid and I forget them very quickly. The ibuprofen-fuelled dreams are very much more memorable, more like hallucinations caused by LSD (according to friends who took LSD back in the 1960's - I never did) and I find myself thinking about them for days afterwards.

For instance last night's involved a love relationship with a character from the Bond film Casino Royale, who was married to someone else, a car chase and some sort of blackmail plot against a government. I haven't even looked up the actor's name, I just wanted to get this written.

Perhaps what I should be blogging here is the more detailed content of the dreams themselves, someone may like to make a movie from them!

Seriously, I would be really interested to hear from other people who have experienced this, and the comments of any medically qualified person.

I hope the account of the dream has amused my readers anyway.

I would NOT recommend that you take this combination just to experiment, ibuprofen does have risks, particularly for anyone with heart problems. I take it for a good reason and know the risks.
