Idiocy is easy to dismiss but not when there are 8 million followers

I believe 100% in free speech and Michael Savage has every right to spew whatever idiocy he feels like on any given day, but it baffles me that this man has over 8 million "citizens" of his "Savage Nation". The above link is
just another example of his outrageous points of view.
I will admit that I did not hear his show the day he said that Democrats could be behind the seizure John Roberts experienced. He may have been using a sarcastic tone or something, making these statements a joke. I truly hope that is the case but I have listened to his radio program before and I doubt he was joking. I can't fathom how this man could even try to link the Democrats to Justice Robert's seizure; it just doesn't make any logical sense. First Robert's has had a seizure before and I doubt the Democrats were behind that. Secondly how does this seizure help the Democrats? He's still on the bench, and will still be handing down rulings that the Democrats don't like. Third, why go after a justice while Bush is still in power? Don't they think he will just appoint someone else they couldn't stand? They wouldn't be able to hold up confirmation forever. Finally if you were going to take out an unpopular justice John Roberts would not be the man to go after. He's smart, well-spoken and fair. Some may not agree with him but his arguments are well grounded. There is another conservative justice that is completely unfair and dismissive of any viewpoint but his own. Seems any nefarious Democrats who would actually conspire to harm a justice would select the worse justice on the court.
Setting aside the idiocy of Mr. Savage's recent statement, overall every time he speaks his message is filled with fear, contempt, or hate. He often uses insinuations, distortions and sometimes outright lies to get his listeners to fear anyone that doesn't spew a strictly ultra conservative ideology. At one time I liked his program because it felt like he was someone who was tired of political correctness and was just going to say what was on his mind. However I've learned by listening to his program is that he's simply trying to shock people into listening. Trying to fill the airwaves with the most hate filled mis-information he can come up with. Worst of all though is that he has 8 million listeners who believe him and think like him.
