If Mia Can Do It - So Can I!

If Mia Can Do It - So Can I!

If Mia Can Do It - So Can I! Well, that's what I thought to myself when I saw an advertisement that called for people to sign up for "western" dance classes! I know, I know - you will now ask me what has this got to do with Mia Northwest?

Well, those who are regular readers and fans of Mia's writings here on Xomba will remember very well that she had signed up for "bollywood" dance classes and was very enthusiastic about the whole thing. You see, so remembering that article, I thought to myself, if Mia can learn "bollywood" dance, then I am sure I will be able to manage "western" dance..It shouldn't be all that difficult!

It all happened simply because I was looking for a way to exercise effectively and yet enjoy the experience. One fine day, I spotted this advertisement that seemed the perfect cure for all my maladies! A great stress buster, a great way to exercise and in the process, I may learn a new skill too - To dance.

The ad promises that I will learn all forms of western dance, starting with Waltz, Jive, Cha Cha Cha, Salsa, Samba etc. Well, getting excited at the prospect of some great times ahead, I signed up for the classes which began in great earnest last weekend.

Hmm..I thoroughly enjoyed the first session and thankfully did not have all the pains and aches that Mia experienced (Can't compare this to "bollywood" dance and besides, it was just Waltz). Although, my feet did hurt a lot and I had to take rest to make them better. But, am looking forward to my next session eagerly.

Thanks Mia, for the inspiration! BTW, How's your dance progressing, that is if you are still at it?

A Family Can Dance Too!

Great Article! Some years back I had a Great Aunt who started taking a Latin Dance class. After about three weeks she had gotten so attached to the class that she didn't want to leave when we arrive to pick her up. I remember those days and I laugh now. The idea of her wanting to stay at the dance class prompted my family to begin the Latin Dance classes too. We all enjoyed the classes and it gave us something to do together during the week. Ooo, Ooo, Me Too!

Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire, no one can glide across a dance floor like them. They made it look so graceful and effortless. Singing in the Rain is also one of my favorite cheer-me-up movies. Especially nice to watch on actual rainy days! : ) MJ - Sending happy thoughts and Smiles! Avatar: Betrayal and Retribution http://www.valkyrieart.com/Poser1.html

Jazz Dance and Lock Ins

dance is great exercise - agreed. But don't do what me and some friends used to do - a two hour session of jazz dance - an hour of exercise followed by an hour of learning a dance led by a sadist (theory only) who loved to see us perspire (also a theory). After a shower we'd head to the pub famed for its lock ins (illegal drinking after hours). Thanks for the article +1

I have a suggestion...

If you want to have tons of fun and excercise all at the same time try dancing to Merengue. I highly recommend it! It's the native Dominican Republic dance. No wonder Dominican women are amongst the most beautiful women on the planet. Thanks Helen

I loved to watch Gene Kelly tap dancing in the movie "Singing in the Rain" and also Fred Astaire in those old movies, It was absolutely fascinating and I always wished i could dance like that. Of course, I tried it myself many times, but couldn't match up..:-( Thanks for your comment. Get money writing articles on Xomba Here

great!

Great idea for keeping fit. I did tap dance once - at the age of 30 and got to the first grade... after a few weeks I noticed some muscles on my leg that I never had previously. After I ended my class they sadly disappeared very quickly. It was a lot of fun. Maybe I should take something new up, maybe something a lot less tricky than tap dancing. Check out my Xomba Homepage
