Increase Miles Per Gallon

Increase Miles Per Gallon

Gasoline is rising every day. It seems to always jump in price when the barrel of oil goes up but it never seems to came back down, even if the price of a barrel of oil does. For several/many years now the technology to get 100 miles per gallon of gas in today’s motors has been available. It is safe, simple and very inexpensive. It makes me wonder if it is true when I hear “What The Auto Industry Does Not Want You To Know”.

There is a chemical that we use every day that can be added to gasoline. The addition of this chemical will increase mileage about 10-15 percent. That means about 50 miles more per tank if your tank gets 300 miles per tank. What is it? It’s the same chemical women use to remove nail polish from their fingernails. It’s common name is ACETONE. It is an ingredient used as a solvent in many products such as paint thinner and nail polish remover.

It can be used as an additive in gasoline to break surface tension and allow the gasoline to more completely vaporize. In plain English it can be used as a gasoline thinner. It will not harm the motor but if spilled on the paint or finish it will remove the paint right down to the metal.

Another draw back is that using too much of it can actually decrease miles per gallon. According to research the use of acetone can be described as a bell curve. Miles per gallon of fuel increase to a maximum point where it then starts to decrease miles per gallon of fuel.

The optimum dilution is one ounce per ten gallons of gas. In English measurement that would be 30cc per ten gallons of gas. Or 3cc’s per one gallon of gas. Of course not all gasoline is the same so try to buy your gasoline at the same place or at the least the same brand. Then experiment with the dilution. Try more or less until you get about a 15 or 16 percent increase in miles per gallon.

Acetone is a common chemical readily available over the counter at any drug store. Great care should be taken in adding the chemical to the gas tank because it will DAMAGE PAINT. Far better to spend a few nickels and dimes to get a medical 60cc irrigation syringe than to spend money painting the car.

One last note of caution, use pure acetone. DO NOT USE any acetone that has other chemicals added to it. Do not use paint thinner, do not use nail polish remover, DO NOT use acetone that has any other chemical added to it.

Get another 5 percent or so with these tips.

* keep your car clean on the outside (less wind resistance).

* keep your car clean on the inside (less weight to haul around).

* keep your car well tuned

* keep your oil changed and use good quality oil

* keep your tires inflated to the recommended pressure and then add 5 lbs more (less road friction).

* drive like your grandpa and avoid fast driving, hard braking, fast starts and unnecessary idling.

Ok so now you are enjoying 15-20 percent increase in miles per gallon. Not bad for doing a little reading. Happy motoring!!
