India Incredible Man Gambles His Own Wife

India is really incredible. Manoj Singh a Man from Bihar gambled his own wife after having lost his everything in the gambling. Manoj Singh lost his bike, watch, gold chain
Land and at last his own wife to the other person living in the same village.

When he openly demanded his things all the came to know and then it was decided that Manoj will give 5000 rupees to the very person to whom he had lost everything and the person will not take more than that from Manoj.

Then only the matter was resolved. Such a thing happened during religious ritual known as Durga Puja.

Every country has its good and bad areas

I am not familiar enough with Indian geopolitics to know what states are better than others, but I do understand that every country--even my own--has places that are better than others. Having said that, I cannot really judge the man in your article because, even in Western countries, women were still considered chattel and not worthy of equal rights as men until the 20th century. The foundation of social reform is education and education requires the ability to communicate well and some sort of code of conduct. Until the education of people of Bihar becomes a priority for the Indian government, things probably won't get any better for women there. That's my opinion anyway. Keep writing!

Women as Chattel

Sadly, even in this day and time there are parts of the world, cultures, and religions that regard women as personal property. Actually, in some areas, men, women and children are bought and sold every day. I have a friend who has been to the Arab slave markets in North Africa looking for her sister and nieces who were stolen from their village. It seems they had not been quick enough to hide in the bush when the alarm had been sounded and were caught in the open by the slavers. She was too late at the slave auctions, but has located them now in Egypt and is trying to get them free. She just returned from there where the government officials took her paper work, took her bribe which they had demanded, and told her sorry she needed more paperwork and more money to free them. It seems that not all the world has made it into the 21st century. Angel

Women are not chattel

It appears that this Indian felt that his wife was a piece of personal property when he made the bet. We are living in the 21st Century for crying out loud!
