Indonesia's forests are becoming overrun by illegal logging activity leading to violence and attacks on unsuspecting intruders.
Mosquito bites are prevalent in Indonesia. Dengue fever caused by day biting mosquitoes is a concern throughout the country. Malaria caused by night biting mosquitoes can also be of concern.
Rats are attracted to the unkempt garbage and spread disease.
Ants, cockroaches and termites are numerous and cause health problems.
Americans in Indonesia are being advised to keep a low profile and be alert to the possibility of terrorist attacks.
It is advised that in Bali precautions be taken with food. Bottled water is recommended, not tap water. do not eat salads or raw food outside of the hotel restaurants exchange your money in a reputable shop otherwise the natives might try to take advantage of you.
Travel during the dry season to avoid weather related dangers.
Because the region is so abundant with active volcanoes, be on constant guard in case of volcanic eruption.
Earthquakes are common in Indonesia.
Is not uncommon to be exposed to a tsunami.
In the larger cities keep away from drug dealers on the streets.
