"Indy Cheats" Case Closed? NFL Takes Colts' Side; No Artificial Crowd Noise

The Indianapolis Colts say that they did not pipe in extra noise during their game yesterday with the Patriots, and the NFL has issued a statement siding with the Colts.

Referring to some odd crowd-noise sounds that were heard on TV during the Colts-Patriots broadcast Sunday, the League came out with a statement saying that what sounded like artificial crowd noise was in fact created by the CBS production crew, and not the Indianapolis Colts.

"CBS has informed us that the unusual audio moment heard by fans during the Patriots-Colts game was the result of tape feedback in the CBS production truck and was isolated to the CBS broadcast," the league said. "It was in no way related to any sound within the stadium and could not be heard in the stadium."

That seems to settle the question... for now, anyway.
