Inspirational writing sources
posted September 6, 2006 - 3:34pmThere are so many wonderful sources for inspiring us to write right
in front of our faces every day. Simply take a look around you and I
believe if you look at your surroundings in detail you could come up
with something. Books, Magazines, Music, Souvenirs, Photos, even Pets and
Children can inspire you.
The next step would be to look out of a window for a bit. Depnding upon where you live this could be a huge resource of inspiration. If nothing seems to be stirring up any ideas, call a friend or turn on the television. Listening to or seeing what is going on with other people can be a source of something to write about.
Maybe you could get some ideas by going for a walk. Being around nature and other people are 2 of the best sources of inspiration.
Taking a bus ride is a good idea and an excellent study in human nature. Every passenger on that bus has a different tale to tell
when seen through your eyes.
Go the mall or the park and sit on a bench and just casually watch
people. Maybe someone might sit next to you and you could strike up a
conversation with them. I have met some of the most interesting people this way.
On your travels talk to shop owners, clerks, waitresses, whomever
as these people all can inspire ideas.
You may want to visit a library, outdoor market, bus terminal, restaurant, movie theater, museum, concert, street fair, or
even a local landmark. Remember wherever there are buildings or
people there is inspiration. Buildings can provide ideas such
as atmosphere, architectural style and history.
Be sure to take along your notepad and pencils and maybe even
a small tape recorder with you on your journey
to record your notes.
Go over your notes and revise them when you get back from your day out. I am sure this can supply you with plenty of ideas to write about.
If not, take a look through the newspaper, as it is always an inspirational source.
