Instant Karma - Feed the Hungy for Free - Fight Breast Cancer - Animal Rescue & More!

TheHungerSite.com - For every click, corporate sponsors donate 1.1 cups of food for the those in need.

I found this site about a week ago and posted it to my favorites. I try to visit every day and click the button and I try to encourage others to do the same.

The Hunger Site began in 1999, and has generated funding for more than 500,000,000 cups of food for hungry people world-wide.

Of course there are other opportunities to donate and through product purchases, but it seems the majority of their food donations are supplied through clicks.

There are also tabs at the top of the page for breast cancer, child heath, literacy, rainforest and animal rescue. Click on each one every day and help support these causes.

I ask myself daily what I did to make the world a better place and there have been days when I really couldn't answer. Perhaps this is a way that I can answer that question positively every day.

I encourage everyone to save it to their favorites and share with your friends. Why not start each day with a little click of instant karma?

They've been around since 1999 and have been mentioned in some respected publications. I'm sure if they weren't legit, it would have been found out by now. Here are a couple of mentions of TheHungerSite.com in Christian Science Monitor and CNN Money. There are more, but I think it's safe to say it's not a fly-by-night operation.

They're legit. They're backed by some corporate supporters, and I've heard that the companies whose ads you see really do supply money or food, etc. to the cause. Some major aid organizations like Mercy Corps are affiliated with them, and I'm sure these groups would do the proper vetting before allowing their name to be associated with such as site.

The Hunger Site also has a number of sister sites if one prefers to click for those causes-- rainforest preservation, child health, breast cancer (mammograms for low-income people, I think), etc.

I believe there are several others that are legitimate click for charity sites, not only for breast cancer, but for animal welfare and other food organizations. Maybe we can get a list of those going in this thread if anyone knows of any more. I know I would not mind at all making it part of my daily routine to click on a few sites before checking my email when I start each day.

I am actually working on two sites related to charities. One will be a site on which I will donate a large percentage of my earnings from purchases to a list of charities that I support. Pretty straight-forward and simple. The other, well that one is a bit different and I'm not free to divulge the details yet, but it is a very large project on my part and I hope it works out.

Thanks for your comment! I visited your site. Nice info on Tarot. Years ago, I had a friend in the Army that read Tarot and one year when I was her "secret santa" I found a beautiful deck at an antique shop. They were in very good condition with very nice artwork. I wish I had a pic of them to share with you. I love the artwork on the cards and the meanings behind them.

A Black Bear stole a late model pick-up truck from a highway rest area earlier today. Leading Vermont troopers on a 3 hour chase, the bear was apprehended after the truck ran out of gas on a rural stretch of highway.

The bear said that he stole the vehicle in protest of human encroachment on his habitat and to raise awareness about dwindling numbers of the American Black Bear population and also the plight of their "brothers in the north", the Polar Bear.

A Vermont State Trooper spokesman stated that the bear was cooperative when he was apprehended, but failed a roadside sobriety test. He also noted that "although we sympathize with the plight of the bear population, this bear will have to be held accountable for his actions."

If you though this was for real...DUH! Bears can't talk!

Now, if you really want to help some animals, read the post above and click to help animal rescue efforts and several other great causes. It won't cost you a cent and will probably only take as long as reading this comment. Don't forget to + it up so we can get in the top ten!

That's right. You don't even know what you are talking about. Control your mouse-click happy finger. You are promoting something you, yourself have not researched. I did on your behalf and here is the link

http://www.xomba.com/the_truth_about_the_hunger_site_and_why_instant_karma_is_not_a_good_idea

Moreover when you keep "begging" or chiding people into voting for yourself, not only in this article but also elsewhere, that amounts to Spamming and is against the Xomba Policies.

By the way these are not general statements. You may not have any sense of belonging to this site. I do.

I am not defending myself, i am just trying to keep a selfish, egomaniac who considers nothing of wasting other peoples time at bay.

When you go and click, you're not giving anything to anyone and you're not getting anything.

CORRECTION: You're giving people the knowledge that 'someone cares enough to cause donation,' and you're getting the knowledge that 'your desire to donate registers with the money.'

Heads, everybody wants face-time from the internet public, and 'Charity for FREΕ' is a cheap bait with which to catch it; Tails, 'for FREΕ' is an AwEsOmE way to be charitable.

a cheap tagline that will attract attention. Depending on the demographic you are shooting for. Everyone knows that sex sells in any form whether directly or innuendo and so does charity, violence, and absurdity.

Buddy Jesus, just because I post something about a charitable cause, doesn't mean that I'm looking to gain from it. The gain from having my signature links here is minimal if even at all, but I would be foolish not to post something in a signature of anything I post on the internet. Just like the "linkbrander" links in your signature. If it is something you are affiliated with then it would be foolish if you didn't add it to your posts. Now posting, just for the sake of an affiliate link is a different story. (see my examples below).

Why anyone could confuse the post with $p@m as you so tactfully put it, is beyond me, and promoting attention for causes which I think are good through some humorous (to some people) comments which draw attention to them is not $p@m. It's part of the dialogue that these sites are intended to create. How long is a comment listed on the sidebar? Maybe a couple of hours at most during off peak hours? Maybe 10 or 15 minutes when a lot of folks are posting on Xomba? Hmmm..not really a major nuiscance, unless you are on the site 24 hours a day and your life revolves around Xomba.

Why some people, and I'm not directing this at you for sharing your opinion so succinctly, seem to want to put so much effort into discrediting things intended to be good, especially when they can't prove anything they say, is beyond me.

I encourage direct contact with the charities the click for charity programs support instead of relying on the words of people who take offense to a creative means of helping others.

There is no denying that the click for charity site contributes something to those causes. Even if it is a fraction of what they claim on the site. It takes me a few seconds to click while I'm reading my email every day. I'll continue to promote it because I believe that every little bit counts.

If I wanted to $p@m, I might post blurbs like:

"Download Rihanna's latest Take a Bow - Unlimited Downloads at xcghsfdthjkd.com"

"Download Lil Wayne Featuring Static Major "Lollipop" - Download Unlimited Songs! at xcghsfdthjkd.com"

I could go down the entire Billboard Top 100 and have 100 "posts" in a matter of minutes.

This is the last time I'll reply on the subject of $p@m or in defense of charitable causes. I have more productive things to do with my time.

This message is brought to you $p@m FREE. Please donate money, goods, time and effort to your favorite charitable organizations or do something on your own to help make the world a better place. Every little bit counts. If you have a favorite charity or cause that you believe in, I encourage everyone to post something about it on Xomba to let others know about it. I will post more about charities that I support in the future, but for now, I've spent my Xomba time writing this reply.

Free + Charity is good..But some people seem to think charity is bad and free isn't a word..

Spending a few seconds and squeezing out a few pennies from a corporate sponsor is worth it to me. Can't do much with a penny, but with a million pennies you can do a lot...and I've goten pretty good at it..my outlook mail open on the left side..clicking on the right..I can multi task. As far as the bandwidth, well I'm not paying extra to click on their site. I've got thee windows open right now..My isp never charges me extra.

As I stated in my last comment. That was the last I was going to acknowledge that thread or his vendetta against charity. Whatever his motivation, it still worked out to the advantage of getting people to think about doing something positive, so in that respect, I encourage him to continue to post articles about charitable causes and non-profits. Any debate is good debate. Are there flaws in the systems, sure. But a flawed system that produces some results is better than none. (yeah yeah..I'm sure he'd respond with something like "a system that produces no results produces no results" or some other wise and astute assertion.) "Xombies" shouldn't just accept either of our views blindly, if it interests you, look into it on your own. Contact those who benefit from the aid. Look into a cause that you are passionate about and do whatever you can to make the world better. Lord knows, we need all the help we can get!

As far as big food and pharmas getting tax breaks, that is kind of a no-brainer...any large corp that donates to charity takes advantage of tax breaks. That is why the system is designed that way, to encourage them to contribute. That doesn't mean that the money is not good.

I could keep responding to him, but my bandwidth is better used for other things.

Buddy Jesus! What are you doing!? You've got me started again..I'm done! I think you are just an instigator! LOL! Keep it up!

P.S. Please check out Rawnak's new CafePress site - http://www.cafepress.com/kanwarpriya - where she has featured her great sketch of a tiger on some merchandise. I can't vouch for the amount of money your purchase would be donated to her cause or if she will take advantage of any tax breaks available to her, but I'd guess that with her views on charity she might do the right thing. (taprial may want to get her financials or state the obvious that CafePress will make more money than will be given to help tigers..maybe we'd be better off giving candy to a hungry tiger..)

Debate on 'the charity issue' keeps 'charity,' 'cruel intentions,' 'good intentions,' 'greed' and all the other involved powers in the mind of the audience (each power either in the 'avoid this'-section or the 'feels good'-section, according to the audience-member's position).

'Giving to charity without knowing where the gift is going' is like 'praying without knowing what to pray for'; it's good that you think of doing it, but it's not necessarily the "right" good!

P.S. Rawnak IS the right good, so any wealth that goes to her is going to the right place!

So, riddle me this, mythman...When was the last time YOU went out and purchased, then, (after travelling halfway around the globe), hoisted a couple of 40kg bag of rice on your back and carried them to a group of starving Ethiopian or Bangladeshi families? That is truly the only "Straight to the Plate" action.

While not everyone can, it's a good thing there are so many ways to support those programs and the people that actually are delivering food and supplies.

You are absolutely right. "Straight to the plate" IS the best way to provide support..but most people either cannot or will not go to those lengths (at least not on a daily basis).
Some take an active role in raising awareness in their communities..some just send checks and write it off on their taxes. People contribute in various ways and some, I'm sad to say, do nothing at all and would rather spend money on one more double frappachino than give up a buck or two to help others.

If these online programs, raise awareness, encourage others to support the causes, and channel some measure of support, then more power to them. Hopefully they even encourage people to do more than click. Perhaps even through promoting discussion and debate for and against the merits of their programs, they have prompted people to donate directly to the World Food Programme or their charity of choice.

I might be playing Devil's advocate there ('GIVE IN to your selfish desires ... YOU CAN BE LIKE GOD!' LOL), but--as I say/will-say somewhere--"self-centered" (while it's a bad way to be focused) is where all desires start.

That is a very wussy way of putting it. I would state it more-boldly, but then a lot of my future responses would begin 'Well, the way I ~meant~ that was ...' or some other regretful back-pedal.

So we know "everyone" starts with a self-centered desire, and often have to combat that self-centeredness to gain universal-prosperity (see Dennis Kucinich's video on the greed of oil-companies).

We see that so often, the 'selfishness-alerting' becomes a habit (leading many to equate 'them gaining' with 'them stealing gain from all others who might also gain').

Maybe the site is not entirely-correct in that 90% of the 1.1-cents goes to transporting 0.11-cents of rice.

But if you think your time is better off being converted into the 1.1-cents of labor than it is the 2-or-3 cents of writing, publishing and connecting made possible by Xomba, that's your right!
