Insufficient Settlement
posted December 30, 2006 - 6:09pmSome Good News and some Bad News.
First, the Good News: I Finally got a sizeable settlement from the school district who killed me with their negligence.
The Bad News (`idn't that whut we Meedia-Hounds `rr always fokusin` on?): the settlement was only 'sizeable' compared with a used car! In effect, the law is saying that I–the 14-year-old whose future was STOLEN–am only worth as much as a slightly upper-class new car!
Of course, I complained about it; but I was reminded what my lawyer said about the settlement: if I decided to deny the school's offered settlement and sued for a sum closer to what the STOLEN FUTURE was worth, I'd have to win more than they offered or else I'd be liable for the multi-bajillion dollar fees the school's lawyers are paid!
So I'm set for life, supposing I don't ever want to live somewhere nicer than my two room apartment, and supposing I don't ever want to spend without limits, and supposing I don't ever want to support anyone but myself ... and America wants to be sure that I can't contribute to its future!
