The interesting part of the Biden v Palin debate
posted October 3, 2008 - 8:41amAs I was totally bored out of my skull last night I decided to watch the much toted Biden v Palin debate. Though I believe that Biden was much better in the debate, there was one topic that I was amazed at Biden's answer. The topic was gay marriage and did the candidates support gay marriages.
Palin, as believed she would, stood directly on fence, well kinda. She said she supported gay rights, which I found a little weird - her being a staunch conservative and all, but that marriage was to be between one man and one woman - towing the company line.
Biden, surprisingly to me, agreed with her. He expressed his support for gay rights but said he also believed that marriage was between a man and a woman.
I believe Biden really missed a chance there. Here is a demographic the Obama/Biden could've really rallied to their cause. If they had come out for gay marriage and push the gay communities to get out and vote, I believe that could've been huge. So why say you're not for it?
Well, honestly, how many homosexuals are going to vote for McCain/Palin? Probably not many. So Biden and Obama are probably more concerned about losing voters if they say they are for it than they are if they say they are against it - i.e. they want to steal a couple of conservatives plus the undecided votes. Politics in full swing ya'll.
