The Invention of Lying
posted October 23, 2009 - 1:09amThe Invention of Lying's main attraction is the presence of celebrated British comedian Ricky Gervais and overrated actress Jennifer Garner. The setting of the movie is comic - a world where people only know how to tell the truth. It started okay. The first ten minutes were moderately amusing. From there it did not so much go downhill as lept off a cliff into the abyss. There is only so much of Gervais' ridiculousness one can take before beginning to pray for the end. After half an hour I was ready to cry. By the time it terminated, I had long since been asleep. I missed half of the Invention of Lying but the rest of sleeping audience told me it was a good thing. I'd been spared the trauma.
If there's one message I want you to take from this brief Xombyte: do not see this movie if you can avoid it.
