Irish Leader Michael Collins

Michael Collins was born on October 16, 1890 in Clonakity, County Cork, Ireland and was the youngest of 8 children born to Michael and Marianne O’Brien.  Michael’s father was 60 when he married the young Marianne in 1875.  Michael was six years old when his father passed away and predicted while in his death bed that his son would do great things for Ireland.

Hi Martie, It is a bit of

Hi Martie, It is a bit of intersting Irish history.  My Great Grandmother was a Collins and somehow related to Michael.   She used to tell my Grandfather that he looked like a Collins.  I never thought much about it till I was in Dublin visiting a museum and came across a display for Michael Collins.  There is a picture hung up in the display and he looked so much like my Grandfather at that age.  Haven't figured out the connection yet but thinks it is through his father Michael Sr.

Thanks for reading

Interesting bit of Irish history
