Is Iran a threat to the US and to the world?
posted August 23, 2008 - 4:57amI guess I would be right in saying that most countries think that Iran is a threat. No offense to the Iranian people, who I think are quite wonderful folks but the Iranian Govt. sure poses some serious headaches to World leaders. The Iranian regime's support of terrorist groups in Israel and Iraq and its nuclear and space ambitions are cause for serious worry.
The question is what can one do of Iran? After the Iraq quagmire, one wonders whether the US has any conviction to deal with the Iranian problem. The other day the Iranians declared their space ambitions quite brazenly. I would think that would have rattled quite a few in the West - or is it that nobody is bothered about it all?
The Iranians are up to no good, but sadly it seems the US is incapable or unwilling to do anything about it. Would they wait until the Iranians have nuclear weapons of their own? Its just a matter of time one assumes before they are able to develop technologies that would endanger the world, especially the US.
I've heard people say that the military option is not actually an option. But, then what is? Diplomacy is what the Iranians want. They can go on talking and talking, till they develop the Bomb. I think its high time the world wakes up to the threat from Iran.
