I'm used to hearing all sorts of things on the subway, but I was taken aback this morning to hear a lady in conversation with another lady refer to Miley Cyrus as "a whore." I was even more surprised when the otehr lady seconded the suggestion, although she preferred to brand the 15-year-old superstar a "slut."

Now come on - isn't that carrying things just a wee tad too far? These ladies were talking about the now infamous VANITY FAIR photo, which - as far as I know - merely shows the singer covering her chest with a sheet.

Whore? Slut?

I wouldn't necessarily agree, but it would be one thing if these women were talking about Ms. Cyrus as a "willing to sell outher artistic integrity for a buck" kind of whore. But they weren't - they made it clear that this was in the traditional "sexual" realm of the term.

A bit of an over-reaction to what is, after all, a picture which shows no "naughty bits" whatsoever. I can't say if this is the case for these two ladies, but a lot of this is less about the picture and more about resentment and jealousy.

Maybe we need to take a little breath here and get some perspective.
