J.K. Rowling's First Book After Harry Potter: Fairy Tales
posted November 2, 2007 - 1:44pmWired.com reports that J.K. Rowling has finished her first post-Harry Potter book, and it's got a lot of things in common with the tales of the boy wizard.
The book is an illustrated collection of fairy tales with magical themes, titled "The Tales of Beedle the Bard." Rowling said the book helped her "say goodbye" to the Harry Potter characters. (In fact, the book was mentioned in the final Harry Potter novel.)
According to the article though, this isn't a book that you'll be able to buy, unless you've got a lot of money: the book was handwritten by Rowling herself, and only seven copies were made. Six were given as gifts, and the seventh will be put up for auction next month at a charity fundraiser.
It's bound in leather with semiprecious stones, and the starting bid is... $62,000. Better start looking for that loose change underneath the seat cushions...
