Jacksonville Jaguars Moving in 2009
posted November 5, 2007 - 5:23amIt's not official news. You won't find it in any of the major sports outlets; but it is inevitable. The Jacksonville Jaguars will soon find a new home. They have no other choice.
The move will be due to several factors. First and foremost is the lack of a dedicated widespread fanbase. This is not only due to the fact that Jacksonville is the smallest market in the NFL, it's also because the people living in Jacksonville are generally avid college fans. If you give them the choice of attending a college game on Saturday or a Jaguars game on Sunday the college game will be the choice two out of three times.
Why? Because, Jacksonville is just one speeding ticket away from Gainesville, home of the Florida Gators. It is within driving distance of Tallahassee, home of the Florida State Seminoles. Jacksonville football fans are spoiled. They're used to winning. They thrive on winning teams and the Jaguars are not a winning team. Therefore; no winning means no fans in this town. No fans means no team. There you go.
Bye Jags. I'm gonna miss you. I guess I could always revert back to being a Dolphins fan. But they're not winning either. They do have fan support though.
