Jal Neti can help fight upper respiratory infections, even mesothelioma
posted November 10, 2007 - 11:43pmAncient yogic techniques are gaining popularity amongst new age health freaks. Jal Neti is one such technique that was used by yogis to facilitate meditation but its health benefits have generated interest even amongst mainstream practitioners. They say there is scientific truth behind Jal Neti and how it actually works to treat sinus problems, cold and even protect you from pollution.
Jal Neti or nasal wash is a Yogic cleansing technique that keeps the nasal passage moist, clean and healthy. Fill a Neti pot with 250 ml of lukewarm water and add a quarter teaspoon of salt. Gently insert the spout in one nostril. Tilt your head sideways. Now open your mouth wide and raise the Neti pot so the saline solution flows out through the other nostril. Repeat the whole procedure on the other side. Don't breathe from the nose. You must breathe through the mouth while the water is flowing through the nasal passage. Drying the nose properly after the nasal wash is very important. Blow your nose and exhale thoroughly. Jal Neti is preferably done on an empty stomach.
