Janet Murguia |La Raza | Immigration Debate

Janet Murguia, president of the National Council of La Raza, has come out to openly attack the anti-immigration critics and activists for their inflammatory remarks, which have been echoed by the media.

La Raza is a Hispanic civil rights group, the largest in the country.

Murguia singled out critics and commentators like Lou Dobbs of CNN, Glen Beck, Pat Buchanan of MSNBC and Jim Gilchrist of the Minutemen Project. She has called on the top media organizations to curb the hate-speech that's being spread around.

Hispanics have bore the brunt of such insensitive and virulent remarks because of the large number of illegal immigrants who have found their way across the border into the U.S. They have come for better economic opportunities, and have in fact provided a much needed work-force, though underpaid and often abused, in sectors that ordinary Americans shun.

Pretty Goshdarn Cheeky of Her

To call La Raza a "Hispanic civil rights" group is like saying the Nazi Party was a "Germanic civil rights" group--the facts don't add up. For as much empathy as I have for other human beings trying to find a way not to starve to death, La Raza expects me to believe that I personally am responsible for their suffering because I am white. In fact, since Janet Murguia considers anything demanding Mexico and Mexicans respect American laws to be "hate speech", how can she defend the very existence of La Raza, which means "the race", and whose very motto proclaims "for the race, everything, for the rest, nothing." That motto smacks of racial bigotry and supremacism. If I, as a white person, started a group for and by whites and proclaimed that white people should have everything and feck the rest, I would be dragged in front of a kangaroo court and be branded the worst thing for race relations since the KKK. Why should La Raza be dealt with any differently, if we are truly a free nation of equals? That's just it. We are only equal as far as other groups are equally picking at the dead carcass of our once-great country. ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING
