Japan + Spiderman = Giant Robot?

Japan + Spiderman = Giant Robot?

Heh. This is some crazy stuff.

I love the Japanese because, well, they're Japanese. But when they take a standard American comic book, in this case Spider-Man, and make it their own I just have to laugh. They know what they like and they're not afraid to use it!< p>

Check out this 1978 live-action Spiderman show from Japan. No matter if you are a comic book fan or not you should at least watch the opening sequence of the show, paying particular attention to the subtitles for the theme song on the bottom of the screen.

It makes me wonder why super genius Peter Parker never did make himself some technological tools aside from the web shooters and all that. Maybe if he had had a Japanese girlfriend she would have made some suggestions. :)

Heh, here's some information

Heh, here's some information for you on that show.
It was also a live-action show. Maybe they could make a cross-over where Giant Robot and Spider-Man team up to save the universe!
Johnny Sokko

And so the saga comes to an end Giant Robot sacrificed himself to save the Earth from the terrible Guillotine but who knows when Johnny desperately needs him again, perhaps like a miracle he will come back out of the sky.

See! It's got sequel written all over it!

When I was a kid, some older

When I was a kid, some older cousins used to watch "Giant Robot" every time it came on. Seemed like it replayed every weekend.

I was intrigued. And at the end, when Giant Robot shoots off with the super baddie, sacrificing himself for the humanfolk down below, and leaving that one boy (his creator?) in tears, I always used to lose it.
